    Although we began as a dedicated wholesale bakery, A Taste of Dreams now gets a large number of enquiries from individuals looking to purchase our cakes directly as we may not have a retail stockist in their area.

    We are delighted to announce that our new online shop has gone live today to service this demand from across the UK with a range of our best-selling and most enjoyed “free-from” products.

    There has been continued growth in demand for high quality products that cater for those with food allergies or intolerances. Many existing national suppliers still have relatively poor product offerings and fail to meet the dual demand of gluten and dairy free products or the rapidly expanding market for vegan cakes and bakes. In general, many of our competitors still rely upon additives and preservatives which we have always resisted - an area that retail customers seem to be becoming ever more aware of.

    We are very happy to now be able to service the many requests that we get from all over the country to supply our products by post from an online shop.

    Some old favourites re-imagined!

    For this season’s collection we have decided to re-imagine some much loved classics from our youth.

    We have launched the gluten and dairy free versions of a round Battenberg cake (with the traditional square pattern when cut) and that stalwart of the 1970’s, the much maligned and much loved, black forest gateau.

    We are now able to offer courier delivery services for all retail products, traybakes and the majority of cafe cakes anywhere on mainland UK. Please contact us for more information.

  • 21 July 2017 - Barcodes

    We are pleased to announce that we now have a complete catalogue of barcodes for all of our retail products. This has been an important development to support our customers in making it easy to add our products to existing EPOS systems.

    The barcodes are all originated with GS1 and therefore can be taken as part of a data download or provided to you.

    In combination with our in-house label production, this now extends our support and commitment to our retail partners in providing easy and bespoke solutions for both large and small shops.

  • 1 October 2017 - New Hire
    We are pleased to announce that Katie has joined us today to take control of our administration functions. She will be on hand to help all of our commercial customers with any billing, order and product enquiries.

    Due to continued growth of our business, this has become a key hire to support us with our expansion plans and to meet the technical and administrative demands of our larger wholesale customers.

    Katie has more than a decade of experience in business analysis and technical support for customers across the manufacturing and logistics industries.

    Apple and Turmeric Cake

    Until the end of February, why not be inspired by the heady perfume of south west India? A beautifully balanced and unusual cake with the moistness of apple, the crunch of pistachio and the rich colour with earthy backnote of Turmeric. Turmeric is increasing in popularity because of widely claimed benefits to health, but we just think this is a nice cake which provides a talking point and a different visual identity.

    With only a few weeks until Easter, we are delighted to release our seasonal treats with immediate availability for your customers to enjoy. Additionally, as Simnel cake was originally created for Mother’s Day why not get customers in a festive mood early? Mothers Day is on 6th March.

    Simnel Cake - Available in all sizes, this is a gluten free, dairy free and vegan option, and has the benefit of no added cane sugar (save for the marzipan). Based on our Glynde Fruit cake, this comes with comestible flower petal decoration and marzipan. Priced as per the Glynde Fruit Cake. Minimum 2 week shelf life at ambient.

    Chocolate Fudge - A favourite Gluten Free option, and available in all sizes, this is topped with crispy shell mini-eggs. Up to 2 week shelf-life at ambient.

    Gingerbread and Shortbread - Supplied egg shaped in multiples of 12, this Gluten Free option is decorated with marbled fondant icing or dipped in chocolate - please see attached images.     Gluten Free and Dairy Free Pina Colada Cake

    We couldn’t wait for National Piña Colada Day (there really is one in Puerto Rico) to savour this fruity and refreshing cake. An invitation to Summer and dreaming of sunshine, this extremely moist sponge brings a light balance of pineapple and coconut, and is topped with pineapple and cherries glazed under a dark rum jus. Umbrellas are optional!

    The Mojito is my favourite cocktail, and the most popular in Britain, so a must for this collection. Refreshing citrus, mint and with just the right amount of sweetness, this is guaranteed to be a firm favourite at any time of day. With a healthy back note of white rum jus, this cake is topped with crystallised and fresh mint on a white rum icing.

    It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, so a perfect reason to indulge in our Gin and Tonic cake. Lime, Lemon and Gin essence blend together in time honoured tradition to bring a truly unforgettable cake. Topped with lime and lemon segments on a sharp white icing, who could resist?

    We are delighted to have been awarded a maximum five star rating for food hygiene in our most recent inspection last month. We work very hard to ensure quality in all areas of the business and we are pleased to have this recognised as part of an independent inspection regime.

    Back by ever-popular demand, the Chocolate and Beetroot is a perfect treat on a dull day. This dark and dense sponge marries nuggets of our rich 53.8% cocoa chocolate with the subtle taste of beetroot, and is topped with chocolate icing.

    What better way to celebrate autumn than with a classic Date and Walnut cake? This light and nutty sponge is packed with dates to bring a rich sweetness and luxurious crumb. Topped with crushed walnuts.

    We’ve been playing with lots of Carrot recipes, and are delighted to launch this unique version to replace our existing one. Packed with rough grated carrot and a wide range of nuts, we’ve added moisture and texture whilst simplifying and concentrating the flavour. Topped with a lightly infused orange icing and crushed mixed nuts.

    Here are our Halloween treats for 2016.

    The Eyes, Pumpkins and Mummy are all Gingerbread, and come individually bagged for display. They have a maximum shelf-life of 2 weeks.

    Available singularly or in pairs, bagged and they can be either Gluten Free or Classic recipes.

    The pumpkin cake is a tray bake, made with fresh rather than pureed pumpkin, topped with an orange buttercream. This is a Classic only recipe.

    And of course don’t forget to order your Parkin too!

    As we near the festive season, we are delighted to formally release our seasonal treats, all available for immediate order. Please find attached an image of the range, which includes:-

    • Christmas Fruit Cake - a twist on our ever-popular Glynde Fruitcake - lashings of brandy, water icing and festive fondant decoration. GF & DF & Vegan, they boast a 4 week shelf-life. Available as 10” Cafe cake, Large Loaf, 5” round (boxed as shown - an ideal Christmas Gift) and mini-loaf
    • Gingerbread and Shortbread Stars - Gluten Free, 6 pieces bagged with ribbon and a 2 week shelf-life. Different decoration options also available
    • Christmas Brownie - Gluten Free, using the same rich Belgian Chocolate as always, with added cinnamon, cranberries and brandy. 4 week shelf-life
    • Gingerbread biscuits - Gluten Free, individually hand decorated with fondant and/or chocolate. There is the Christmas Tree, Snowman, Present and Christmas pudding. 2 week shelf-life
    • Mince Pies - Gluten Free, made with high quality gluten free and vegetarian mincemeat. These come bagged in pairs, and can also be boxed in 4’s if required. Max 2 week shelf-life.

  • 31 December 2016 - Cakes for Causes in 2016
    We are always happy to hear from individuals and groups that need lovely cakes to help raise funds for good causes. Unfortunately we cannot help everyone but we do try to do as much as we can. Looking back over this past year, we are very proud to have supported fund raising events for a wide range of good causes, including Al’s Wishes, Children In Need, Help for Heroes, and Hospice in the Weald.
